i really am not clear on how i go about doing this problem using substitution method!

a+3b=5
2a-b=3

can you please help me? thank you

a+3b=5 we will substitute for a in second equation, so a= 5-3b

2a-b=3 substitute for a
2[5-3b]-b=3 clear bracket
10-6b-b=3
-7b=3-10
-7b=-7
b=1 answer substitute into either equation to get a=2

I suggest you do it by substituting for b instead of a
