I am trying to solve the system by subsitution and give the answer in an ordered pair in the form (x,y).
I think my answer is wrong:
2x - 5y = -13
3x + 10y = -16

2x - 5y = -13
Please help me, I am so lost.

What is your answer? (All I'm seeing is three equations, no work or reasoning or solution.)

Please be complete. Thank you! :D

Re: substitution method

Solve for x in the first equation. You should get an equation that says x=an expression in terms of y. Plug that expression (the whole thing) into the second equation in place of x. Solve that equation for y. Now that you have the value of y, plug it into either equation in place of y and do the arithmetic to get the value of x. Be sure to check your answer by plugging the values of x and y back into both of your original equations and see that they tell the truth.

And next time, please follow Eliz's request by showing what you have done so far.
