Keep in mind that logic and mathematics may have nothing to do with it. It is just a recording scheme and parlor game.

Count the consecutive occurrences and state your result in a loud and clear voice.
Think in pairs.

If you say "1" as the first part of your pair, simply state the related second number.
If you say anything greater than "1', put an "s" on the end of your related second number.
