In order to be included on the ballot in a certain city, a candidate must get at least 12.5% of the registered voters in each of three or more of the city's five districts to sign a petition. The ratio of the numbers of registered voters in the five districts is 6:5:5:4:5. In order for a candidate to be included on a ballot, what is the minimum percent of the total number of registered voters that must sign a petition?

I already have the answer, I just don't know what they did to get it. If you could help I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Ah, I hope you don't plan on being a math teacher. =(! I'm just kidding. Anyway, 6:5:5:4:5, sort of, represents the entire population. What you need to do to solve this problem, is convert that ratio into percentages, after that you should be able to get to the answer.

Thank you

Yes, I eventually figured it out . . . but I thank you for your explanation. Sometimes one gets things into her mind that won't allow her to go further than that certain block! I don't know what I was thinking (or not thinking). Have a great day!

Hi,

It didn't take me long to see my college classes didn't prepare me for this. After seeing many friends and colleagues failing the Praxis test over and over again I realized this exam is a different animal. I couldn't just do the same test prep routine I did for other standardized tests or in my education classes. But thanks to [a fee-based prep site] which help me to clear my test. :)

Thank you so much for this . . . I really appreciate it. I took my exam a few weeks ago and am awaiting the results. I spent about $130.00 on prep tests and could ace them . . . with the exception of the statistics because I HATE statistics! When I went to the exam it was totally different than the 8 full length tests I had taken . . . not even close!! So, I'm expecting that I failed it and I'm okay with it. But if I decide to go back and take it I will definitely take a look at the guide/program you are suggesting. I don't know if you truly were a candidate for the test or someone who is trying to sell the idea but I appreciate your bringing my attention to the possibilities because, I too, believe that it's not necessarily knowledge of math in order to take this exam but knowledge in test-taking skills.
Once again, thank you very much. ;)
