Hey guys, I am stuck on this question at the end of my assignment, it states: Write the simultaneous equations in matrix form and solve for x and y using matrix multiplication:

8x-9y=26
3x+y=1

I have the following working out so far:

12002

I can get the second equation to equal 1, but I can't get the first one to equal 26 unless I use a + sign instead of a - sign, so
8 x -17/19 + 9 x 70/19 = 26

Am I doing this the completely wrong way or have I missed something minor? Thanks so much if you can answer, this has me stumped.

You started with -9. Why did you change it to +9 in your first matrix?

I got it! Thank you so much to both of you for your help! Here is the solution I came up with.
