My chemistry teacher said log(2) could be solved in a just a few steps using only algebra and no calculator. I just don't see it. He said its easy to over look the solution because it so simple. According to him.

I can get it, but I need a calculator for the final step:

log base 10 of 2
10^x=2
xln(10)=ln(2)
x=ln(2)/ln(10) (calculator step)
=0.30103

Now, to solve it in "just a few steps..."

No calculators!

Since "log(2)" isn't an equation, there is nothing to "solve". Did you perhaps mean "evaluate to find the decimal approximation to some number of decimal places"...?

Thank you! :D
