Heres the question frist.
Winning times in the mens Olympic 400 meter free style event in minutes for selceted years are given in table 1. A mathemathical model for thes data is y=-0.021x+5.57
When x is years since 1900
A) compare the model and the data graphically and numerically.
B)Estimate the winning time in 2024
My frist part of my question is when I graph the points do I need to graph only the points on the table or both the table and the points that make the equation true.
Secondly I am not sure what is meant by compare the model and the data numerically.

To compare the model AND data graphically requires two graphs.

For the data in the table, plot the points.

For the model, plot the equation.

Compare the two graphs to each other.

To compare the model AND data numerically means to compare the values of y that come from the equation to the values of y listed in the table.

This requires that you first use the equation to determine y for each x in the table.

How do those calculated-values of y compare to the corresponding values of y listed in the table ?
