Another way to do this is to draw a "temperature line" on your paper. Mark a point on the line as "0 degrees", mark points to the right of 0 degrees on that line at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 degrees. Mark points to the left as -1, -2, -3, -4, -5, -6, and -7 degrees. Now count the number of degrees from -7 to 6.
