Statistical Significance between two averages (geography)

I am not even sure if this is possible. I'm doing a project for geography and I want to work out if there is a statistical significance between two averages. Is this possible and if so could you try to explain it in very basic language. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Without access to the data, etc, I'm not sure what conclusions can be drawn. Also, I'm afraid I'm a bit confused regarding what you're needing to have "explained"? I mean, you've taken whatever statistics courses were required prerequisites for this course (haven't you?), so you should be able to specify what it is you're needing: show what you've done (or at least attempted) so far, and clearly state where you're stuck.
