2y-6=8x I don't know what to do with the 6. My mind is worn down.
Cann anyone please help me get started?

You want to isolate the y

So you have y = mx + c

So to clear the 6 on the left hand side you need to add 6 to both sides.

2y-6=8x

2y -6 + 6 = 8x + 6

Simplify

2y = 8x + 6

Now divde through by 2, halve all the terms!

The slope intercept form of an equation is:

y = mx + b (m=slope b = y intercept)

To get your equation into this format, first add 6 to each side giving:

2y = 8x + 6

Finally, divide each side by two and you hae the standard form.

That is not quite it.

You were making y the subject of

2y = 4x + 6

Divide each term by 2, find half of each term, you can't combine them however.

y = 2x + 3

This is the slope intercept form.
