- how many distinct integers between 1000 and 9999 have distinct digits

- by what % above cost must a merchant mark up goods to offer a 20% discount and still make a 20% profit.

How many ways you can choose the first digit = 9

How many ways you can choose the second digit = 9 ? Why

How many ways you can choose the third digit = 8 ? why

How many ways you can choose the fourth digit = ??

and continue....

Please show your work, indicating exactly where you are stuck - so that we may know where to begin to help you.

Hint: 1000 + 500 = 1500; 1500 - 300 = 1200
If that's not enough, you need your teacher...
