The average weight of Sherry, Keri and Mari is 125 pounds. Mary weighs 10 pounds more than Sherry. The difference between twice Keri's weight and Mari's weight is 170 pounds. How much does each woman weigh?

A+B+C=375
A-10=C
2(b)+C=170

this is where I get stuck.. Please help

You're getting confused by using A,B,C: try again using S, K and M.
Plus your 3rd equation is a DIFFERENCE: you shouldn't have a plus sign!

Finally, start your own thread: see the red "NEWTOPIC" button.

\(\displaystyle \frac{S+K+M}{3} \ = \ 125\)

\(\displaystyle M \ = \ S+10\)

\(\displaystyle 2K-M \ = \ 170\)

\(\displaystyle Hence, \ S+K+M \ = \ 375\)
\(\displaystyle -S+M \ = \ 10\)
\(\displaystyle 2K-M \ = \ 170\)

\(\displaystyle Solving \ the \ system \ gives: \ S \ = \ 110, \ K \ = \ 145, \ and \ M \ = \ 120.\)

\(\displaystyle I'll \ leave \ the \ check \ up \ to \ you.\)
