A triangular sail has an area of x^2 + 5x + 6 square meters (6m^2) and a height of x + 3 meters. Find the length of the sails' base.

Can anyone help me on this one? I am bad with word problems and this new chapter I am learning on factoring has me all confused, by what the book shows. I would appreciate any help you can give.

They've given you the area A and the height h of a triangle, and you know (because you've memorized it) the formula for the area of a triangle with height h and base b. They have asked you to find the base. So plug the area expression in for "A", plug the height expression in for "h", and solve the resulting equation for "b=", which will be the expression for the length of the base.

If you get stuck, please reply showing how far you have gotten. Thank you! :D
