Someone please help me! Even my tutor didn't understand how to do this...

1. Tell how the graph of y=5+(2/x-4) can be obtained from the graph of y= 1/4 by using transformation.

2. Solve the inequality (x-4)^3/x(x+3) is less than or equal to zero.

3. Identify all asymptotes and intercept of the funtion f(x)= x+6/ x^2+x-12. Sketch a graph of g(x).

4. Find all zeros of f(x)=x^2+7x-22 and write a linear factorization of f(x).

5. Graph the function y=-3x^4+2x^3+6X^2-5X+1. Choose a viewing table that shows 3 local extremum values and all the x-intercepts. Show window dimensions.

6. Find all the real zeros of the function in problem 5. Five answers to the nearest hundreth.

7. What us the remainder when x^32-5x^15+12 is divided by x+1?

8. Use the rational zero test to list all the possible candidates for rational zeros of the polynomial f(x)=2x^3+2x^2-5x-7

9. Write 2+5i/8-6i in standard form.

10. Which one is a polynomial with real coefficients that has -2 and 2i as zeros?

a. (x+2)(x-2-i)
b. (x-2)(x+2+i)
c.(x+2)(x^2-4x+5)
d. (x-2) (x^2-4x-5)
e. (x+2)(x^2+5)

Please someone help me with these problems. I'm totally lost and I don't even know how to start D:

Hi there:

Please do not post a list of exercises with no work shown. (We do not complete homework assignments at this site; click HERE for more information.)

These exercises that you posted cover several topics from intermediate algebra through pre-calculus. We do not teach entire topics on the message boards.

It appears to me that you might be in the wrong class, if you really have no idea what any of these exercises are talking about.

Have you taken a pre-calculus course?

What kind of help are you looking for?

Do you have a pre-calculus textbook?

Please answer these three questions, first. Then, we'll go from there.

If you're in need of refresher lessons for pre-calculus, then use Google features to find specific lessons. If you run into trouble with your search, then please post what you tried.

(PS: I think that you need to find a better tutor; this stuff is very basic.)

Here are some hints:

1. Tell how the graph of y=5+(2/x-4) can be obtained from the graph of y= 1/4 by using transformation.
The 5 is a vertical shift.
The 2 is a vertical stretch.
The -4 is a horizontal shift of 4 to the right.

2. Solve the inequality (x-4)^3/x(x+3) is less than or equal to zero.
Use a sign chart.

3. Identify all asymptotes and intercept of the funtion f(x)= x+6/ x^2+x-12. Sketch a graph of g(x).
Factor the denominator and set it = 0 for vertical asymptotes.

4. Find all zeros of f(x)=x^2+7x-22 and write a linear factorization of f(x).
Use the Quadratic Formula to find the zeros.

5. Graph the function y=-3x^4+2x^3+6X^2-5X+1. Choose a viewing table that shows 3 local extremum values and all the x-intercepts. Show window dimensions.
None of the zeros is rational. Use a graphing calculator.

6. Find all the real zeros of the function in problem 5. Five answers to the nearest hundreth.

7. What us the remainder when x^32-5x^15+12 is divided by x+1?
Use Synthetic Division.

8. Use the rational zero test to list all the possible candidates for rational zeros of the polynomial f(x)=2x^3+2x^2-5x-7
Take the factors of -7 (b = {±1, ±7}) and 2 (a = {±1, ±2}). Now write the fractions formed by dividing the numbers in a by the numbers in b.

9. Write 2+5i/8-6i in standard form.
Multiply both numerator and denominator by the conjugate of 8 - 6i.

10. Which one is a polynomial with real coefficients that has -2 and 2i as zeros?
The factor (x + 2) has -2 as a zero.
If 2i is a zero, so is -2i.
(x + 2i)(x - 2i) = x^2 + 4.
I don't think any of the answers given are correct.

a. (x+2)(x-2-i)
b. (x-2)(x+2+i)
c.(x+2)(x^2-4x+5)
d. (x-2) (x^2-4x-5)
e. (x+2)(x^2+5)
