solving for x: 2 |x - 1| + 20 = 25

i am having a trouble with this one as well

2 |x - 1| + 20 = 25

I am so lost?

the answer on the review sheet is x=3.5 and x=-1.5

Remember absolute value is the distance away from 0

2|x-1|+20=25
2|x-1|=5

-2(x-1)=5   or  2(x-1)=5
-2x+2=5         2x-2=5    
-2x=3           2x=7
x= -3/2         x=7/2
