How would I go about solving for ??
cot? + 2csc? = 3

I've read the first post and I know I'm supposed to give my work. But I don't really know where to begin.

Thanks in advance.

Taking it a little further:
cot ? + 2 csc ? = 3
cos ø/sin ø + 2/sin ø = 3
cos ø + 2 = 3 sin ø
(cos ø + 2)^2 = (3 sin ø)^2
cos^2 ø + 4 cos ø + 4 = 9 sin^2 ø = 9(1 - cos^2 ø) = 9 - 9 cos^2 ø
10 cos^2 ø + 4 cos ø - 5 = 0
cos ø = 0.5348... or -0.9348...

What you need to do is to use your calculator to solve for ø. (I don't know how to type "theta".)

I used the Quadratic Formula to find cos ø. Use the calculator answer to find ø. Don't round off until the last step.

Hey Eddie:

It's not fast if you don't finish it.

Did you write a letter to Santa, yet, asking for that calculator?
