I don't know how to put up a graph on this board yet, so I can't share the graph with you.

But the book says: use the graph to solve each equation.

and they give me y=4x+6

a.) -4x+6=18
b.) -4x+6=8
c.) -4x+6=-6

This is in the section Linear Equation which is easy to me. But I just don't know what exactly the book is asking or what the process would be and the text uses very cryptic language.

Help please?

For problem (a), I think they want you to find the value of 'x' when "y = 18", using the graph (not algebra). Assuming x-axis is horizontal and y axis is vertical, you'll draw a horizontal line through the point (0,18) and see where it intersects the given graph. The abscissa of the point of intersection (x-value that is) will be your solution.

Ya, you were right! she said all that I really had to do was solve for 'x' (algebraically), even though the book asked for me to solve it graphically ...

thanks for your input!

much appreciated
