solving equations in parentheses-where from here

-2 +4 [3x -2 (4-x) -3] =4x +2
-2 +4 [3x (-8-2x)-3] =4x +2
-2 +4 [-24x +6x -3] =4x +2
-2 -96x +24x -12 =4x +2
 
It might be helpful if you simplified as you went along:

. . . . .-2 + 4[3x - 2(4 - x) - 3] = 4x + 2

. . . . .-2 + 4[3x - 8 + 2x - 3] = 4x + 2

. . . . .-2 + 4[5x - 11] = 4x + 2

. . . . .-2 + 20x - 44 = 4x + 2

. . . . .20x - 46 = 4x + 2

Now solve in the usual manner. A good next step would be to subtract 4x from either side, and add 46 to either side.

be CAREFUL with signs when you multiply:
-2 * 4 = -8 : you got that ok
-2 * -x = 2x, not -2x : kapish?

In other words, -2(4 - x) = -8 + 2x
