solve for all real solutions. check for extraneous solutions
3(x+1)^4/3=48

the fourth root of 2x-13=-9

Thank you so much :)

Hi there. Did you miss the post titled "Read Before Posting"?

We like to see some effort or explanation. Without any input from you, I can't know what kind of help you need.

What have you thought about or tried so far?

Hints:

On the first exercise, do algebra to isolate the 4th power on the left-hand side; continue by taking the fourth root of each side

On the second exercise, raise both sides to the 4th power, to eliminate the radical on the left-hand side

Solving for real solutions

So far I've done equations like x^1/3 - 2/5 = 0 and know how to multiply the ^1/3 by ^3 to get rid of it. ThenI multiplied the ^3 to the other side and got the answer. I just am confused about what to do if I have something like 2/5 (sq.root) 2x-13 = -9. How do I get the 2/5 to go away?? Thanks! Sorry that it is sort of confusing to explain.
