Please i really need a solution to this question. It goes thus

Solve the equation by the remainder theorem
x3-(5+a)x2+(6+5a)x-6a=0

Hello, and welcome to FMH! :)

Suppose:

[MATH]f(x)=x^3-(5+a)x^2+(6+5a)x-6a[/MATH]
What is \(f(a)\)?

If that is a direct question to me, I don't know. But if it is regarding the question, it wasn't given

Okay, I just solved it and i got the value of
f(a)=2a3

It was a direct question to you. Do you know how to compute \(f(a)\)?

You were given the question. You put it in the first post.
You were also asked another question. How do you evaluation a polynomial for a given value?
One more question. How's your "Synthetic Division"? (aka Cramer's Other Rule)

My Synthetic Division is okay

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE. I've got the answer. Should I upload the solution or there is no need for that?:):)

Please i really need a solution to this question. It goes thus

Solve the equation by the remainder theorem
x3-(5+a)x2+(6+5a)x-6a=0
\(\displaystyle f(a)=(a)^3-(5+a)(a)^2+(6+5a)(a)-6a=\Large 0\)
You need to double check your work.

I always like it when people follow through and post the solution. It makes the thread even more useful to others who read it. :)

Can you please state the remainder theorem and then try to use it for your function?
