SOLVE:
2x^3 + x^2 = 32x + 16
I have this so far:
2x^3 + x^2 -32x -16 = 0
Im confused on what to do next.
You need to factor this. What have you learned about factoring polynomials? Do you know the Rational Root Theorem, Descarte's Rule of Signs, Synthetic Division -- things like that?
No...you need to factor: 2x^3 + x^2 -32x -16 = 0
You have - x * x * x = -x^3 ; you have to get 2x^3
You have 2 * (-4) * (-4) = 32 ; you have to get -16
