(x-9)^2=4

So x-9= +/- sqrt(4)=+/- 2

x-9=2 or x-9=-2

x=11 and x=7 are both solutions to the equation.

Recall that squaring a negative number gives a positive number, so while a positive number actually has one principal root (the positive one), it technically has 2 square roots.
