Solve the system using linear combinations (elimination method):
{ -2x+y=1
{ 6x-2y=-16

Same thing goes for this problem, sorry for the bother, I've never been taught these type of problems and online videos are confusing to me.
 
How do you not know how to at least start this? I'd get a textbook. (Sometimes College libraries stock them.)

All right. Mulitply both sides of the top equation by 3:
\(\displaystyle -6x + 3y = 3 \\ 6x - 2y = -16\)

Now add the two equations. If you need more inforation, just ask. But when you reply, please let us know what you've done.
