x^2+y^2=200
x^2-y^2=0
I do not have a clue as to how to do this problem. HELP

Actually, it is incredibly easy.

Look at it. Like in the other problem, make a substitution.

From the second equation, we see that \(\displaystyle x^{2}=y^{2}\)

Sub into the first:

\(\displaystyle 2x^{2}=200\)

Now, finish.

So if 2x^2=200 then
x^2=100 and
x=10

I am really mathematically challanged

No.. you just need practice. That is correct. Just relax and don't let all those x's and y's befuddle you. They are just numbers.

When you see two equations with two variables. Solve one for a variable and sub into the other. that way you whittle it down to one equation with one variable you can solve.
