The problem is (x^2)e^4x + (7x)e^4x - e^4x
I took e^4x out and I'm left with
e^4x(x^2+7x-1)

How do I solve from here? I can't figure out how to factor to get my smaller and larger values.

An "equation" needs on of these: "=". Did yours have an "=0" attached to it?

e^(4x) is never zero. Perhaps you should try to remember that you studied quadratic equations many years ago.

x^2 + 7x - 1 = 0

Solve for x.
