I need this solved for y
It is a system of ineqalties.

x+y then there is a greater than sign with a line under it. I cant find it on symbols. then... -2
x+y then there is a less than sign with a line under it. Then...4

so will someone please solve it?

x+y > -2
x+y < 4 becomes

-2 < x+y < 4

Underline the < symbol.

You say "solve". We need more information. Or maybe you meant to combine the two statements into one???

Re: Will someone PLEASE solve this

claify a few things.
i need to find the y value.
so i can use it on the ti 83 and graph it.

Re: Will someone PLEASE solve this

actually i need them both seperate solved for y
sorry
im tired.

Actually, one does not solve a system of two-variable inequalities "for y"; one "finds and graphs the solution region". :!:

The "with a line under it" bits mean "or equal to". I'm surprised this never came up in any of the various lessons you studied on inequalities....

There are a couple visitors here who might complete the assignment for you, but math tutors generally prefer to try to help students understand the material and learn how to succeed on their own. In your case, you would appear to need quite a lot of background material. So let's start there.

Have you worked with hegative numbers or with variables much? Have you solved one-variable linear equations? If you're comfortable with those topics, then you should be ready to get started with inequalities. Have you done any straight-line graphing? Have you solved two-variable linear equations for "y="?

Thank you! :D
