Help solve for a - the denominators confuse me
10 = 121a + 53.0563 - 242a - [ a (22a/2a - 4.8233/2a)^2 + (22a/2a - 4.8233/2a) * (4.8233-22a)]
How are the denominators "confusing"...? :shock:
As written, they are extremely simple. You have posted the following:
. . . . .\(\displaystyle 10\, =\, 121a\, +\, 53.0563\, -\, 242a\, -\, \left[a\left(\frac{22a}{2a}\, +\, \frac{4.8233}{2a}\right)^2\, +\, \left(\frac{22a}{2a}\, -\, \frac{4.8233}{2a}\right)\left(4.8233\, -\, 22a\right)\right]\)
...which simplifies immediately to:
. . . . .\(\displaystyle 10\, =\, 53.0536\, -\, 121a\, -\, \left[a\left(11\, +\, \frac{2.41165}{a}\right)^2\, +\, \left(11\, -\, \frac{2.41165}{a}\right)\left(4.8233\, -\, 22a\right)\right]\)
Since you are in intermediate or advanced algebra, you have already completed at least one course in elementary algebra, so you know how to expand the squared binomial expression, how to combine "like" terms, and how to solve quadratic equations, so you should be able to make a great deal of progress on this. How far have you gotten?

please show working steps
Actually, that's what
you're supposed to do! :wink:
Please reply with clarification of where you're stuck, including a clear listing of everything you've tried so far. Thank you!
