Solve F = 9/5C + 32 for C; solve 1-2/(y+7)=6/(y+7)

1) I will assume you mean "F = (9/5)C + 32".

How far have you gotten in solving this? Please reply showing what you've done and where you're stuck.

2) A good first step would be to multiply through by the common denominator, and then solve the linear equation. If you get stuck, please reply showing all of your work and reasoning.

Thank you.

If you don't even know how to begin with these problems, then you need more help than we can give you here. Perhaps it would be best if you talked to your teacher, and if you got a tutor who could give you one-on-one help.

We can help you when you show us the steps you've you've used in an attempt to solve this problem.

When we can see what you've tried, we can decide where your difficulties might be, and we'll have an idea how we might be able to help.

well....

I don't have a teacher, I am 34 and trying to learn on my own out of an old college book I bought at a 2nd hand book store.

So you have no instruction (other than an old book) and it seems you need much more. Since we cannot provided the necessary courses within this environment (there's a reason the books are hundreds of pages long, and the courses last months), you would be well-advised to enroll in a local college, or else hire a tutor who can work with you face to face for a few hours a week, and, in effect, teach you the material as you go.

My best wishes to you.

Eliz.
