Solve the system of equations using multiplication with the addition method.

4x - 5y = -28 <<<question together
-5(-9x - 2y = 10) <<< question together

8x - 1oy = -56
45x + 10y = -50
--------------------
53x = -106/53

x = -2

Now I have to find y. That's all I've gotten so far. Please advise. Thank you!

Plug the x-value into one of the original equations, and solve.

Try and be CLEARER, Jethro; a bit like:

4x - 5y = -28 [1]
-9x - 2y = 10 [2]

8x - 10y = -56 [1] * 2
45x + 10y = -50 [2] * -5

Take my word for it: clarity often means an extra mark (for many teachers!).

thx but i just really dont get Algebra 1 at all. My teacher isn't really a good teacher because she doesnt know what she's talking about. I cant ever go to tutorings because i dont got a ride, and if i dont pass that class i will have to take it again. I'm passing it now but only because of some tests.. I just start guessing on tests.. i dont even know what i'm doing.

I'm afraid there is next to nothing that we can do about this. We cannot replace the classroom instruction you say isn't happening, and we cannot replace the hours of hands-on face-to-face tutoring you say isn't accessible.

If you are indeed entirely at sea, I would strongly suggest hiring a tutor who can come meet with you. By working with him a few hours a week (daily would be best), you may be able, inside a month or so, to get caught up with the class.

My best wishes to you.
