"A" framed roof is symmetrical and has a height of 2.4m and pitch of 5:7
What is the total width.

Can some one help with the formula for this?

Draw a sketch - it will be an isoscales triangle. What else do you see?

As a hint, according to wikipedia the rise (height) is generally given first. see
