how do you determine the equaiton of a slant asymptote from a rational funciton? thanks:)

equation: x^2 + 16/x which i rearranged to (x^3 +16)/x

okay i started figuring it out. i realize you ahve to divide the numberator by the denominator. but what i got for my answer was the same as the initial equation..

i am abusing this website today.

As x gets large, 16/x tends to zero, and so the curve asymptotically approaches y=x^2.
