Size of hole from Rate

Hello, I'm working on a calculus project and need to know whether or not this is possible and how I'd go about solving this.

Would I be able to calculate how large a hole in a pipe would be by knowing how fast a room fills up with smoke/some kind of gas?

And what would the formula be to go about solving this?

Just a little application of physics (common sense) will tell you:

Area of pipe * velocity of gas = time rate of volume of gas

Well i'm not trying to find the area of the pipe itself. I'm trying to find the circumfrence of a circular hole in the pipe.

The info I have is the area of the pipe itself, the volume of the room that the gas is filling up, and the time in which the gas filled up the room.
I can get more info if necessary, but I do not have anymore currently.

Your original post does not say anything about the circumference - and I really don't why you would need that to find the rate of fillng up a room.

Anyway,

Area of the pipe → radius of the pipe → circumference of the pipe
