sinusoidal curve around a circle?

I am trying to come up with a parametric equation that describes a sinusoidal curve that goes around the circle. This will look like a cookie cutter shape.
I have tried graphing a few parametric equations but they tend to have sharp edges between the "petals" instead of a smooth sine curve...
Any help???
