The other thread contained the same equation but involved implicit differentiation. I considered this before approving both threads, thinking they appeared different enough. If this is in fact a duplicate, sometimes new users get confused by the fact that their posts go into the moderation queue. It happens on a daily basis.

But please, don't use such an abrasive tone, particularly with new users. If you think a user has done something wrong, please report the post and let the moderating staff handle it.

It's more about good forum decorum and diplomacy. We are enforcing the rules, but to attack a new user like that is just plain bad form. How would you feel if you were greeted as a new user on a forum with a stern dictum in large bold print?
