I need direction in order to understand my work. Don't laugh, but I have gone back to school at the age of 50 and it's been awhile. So...help! I'm a quick learner, but need you to show the work for me to understand :D :D

First, will you look at this one that I worked and tell me if I'm on the right track?

Problem:

Simply the fraction - 2x / -xy. There is a parenthases around the fraction with the - outside of the paren:

I got the answer of 2/y

Just factor out and cancel the common factors:

. . . . .\(\displaystyle \L -\left(\frac{2x}{-xy}\right)\, =\, \frac{-2x}{-xy}\, =\, \left(\frac{-x}{-x}\right)\,\left(\frac{2}{y}\right)\, =\, \frac{2}{y}\)

Good job! :D
