im on a really old phone and its not inputting text correctly.... the books answer is.... 0 is less than x.... ok.. ive simplified to -5x+5

Hmmm,
If I substitute x=0 I get...
-5(0-1)<5(0+0)
which gives
5 < 0 <=== not true

i guess i cant use the less than/greater than symbol on this device....lets use = instead... anyway...ive simplified to -5x+5=5x+5 and then to -5x=5x but after that im pretty much lost

Yes but be careful not to change to equal sign!
-5(x-1)(1/5)<5(x+1)(1/5)
(1-x)<(x+1)

Then ...

-x<x

add x to both sides,
then divide both sides by 2
