It might have helped if you had not said you wanted to simplify an expression, and instead said you wanted to transform the equation. Note that you have multiplied by cos θ and divided by sin(θ/2), so the new equations is not strictly equivalent. This is among the reasons we want to see context.
 
This expression obtained from diagonalizing the Hamiltonian for a two-level system in Quantum Mechanics.
