1)how many soldiers are there in a group of 27 sailors and soldiers, if there are 4/5 as many sailors as soldeirs.. Please break down cause im not to quick.

First name things:

Let # of soldiers = d

Let # of sailors = l

Then we know: group of 27 sailors and soldiers ? d + l = 27 .................................(1)

You need another equation from the other condition ? there are 4/5 as many sailors as soldeirs
