Without knowing what "P*" or "P^" means, or what the relation between them might be (if any), I'm not sure how one would draw any particular conclusions. :oops:

But if "P^" is non-negative, then "t" cannot possibly be larger than "P*". :shock:

If you don't know how to post math symbols, can you ask

in full this is what the equation actually asks.

Domestic price > world price + Unit Tariff > world price

So P*=Domestic price
and P^= world price

Dont know if that helps but thanks for the reply anyway.

Actually, there is no "question" here, only a statement of relative sizes. :oops:

Unless you're giving things away for free or else paying people to take items off your hands, the prices have to be positive. You are given that the world price and the tariff together amount to less than the domestic price. Are you supposed to try to prove that the tariff by itself is then somehow larger than the domestic price...? :shock:
