Please check the following:

1) -6 - 6 = 12

2) 80 - 4 (6 - 4) = 76

3) 10 - (- 4 + 2) = 8

4) - 12 + ( 8 : 2 ) = 8

5) - 3 - 4 + 7 = 12

Thank you!

Picture the numbers on a number line.

1) If you start at six units to the left of zero, and then move six more ("subtract") to the left, where do you end up?

2) Since you don't show your intermediate steps, we can't tell where you went wrong. Sorry.

3) If you start at four units to the left of zero, and then move to the right ("add") two units, where do you end up? If you then change the sign ("minus"), thus moving that many units to the other side of zero, where do you end up? Now apply this to the "10".

4) What does the "colon" symbol indicate?

5) If you start at three units to the left of zero, and then move four units further left, where do you end up? If you then move seven units to the right, where do you end up?

1) Correct.

2) Please show your work. Thank you.

3) Please show your work. Thank you.

4) If the ":" means "divided by" (which is quite unusual), then you have:

. . . . .-12 + (8 ÷ 2)

What is the value of 8 ÷ 2? Now use the same reasoning explained for (1), etc, to find the value obtained by starting at -12 and then applying the result of 8 ÷ 2.

5) You should have arrived at only one value, not two. Please show your work. Thank you.

80 - 4 ( 6-4 ) = 76
76 - 2 = 74

10 - ( -4 + 2 ) = 8
10 - -2 = 8

- 12 + ( 8 divided by 2 ) = -8
4
-12 + 8 = 8

-3 - 4 + 7 =
-3 - 11 = -14

4. -12 + ( 8 divided by 2 ) = -8
By "show your work", we mean "show all of the intermediate steps". Thank you.

How did you arrive at "-3 - 11"? Please show all of your work and reasoning (similar to how I explained the steps and reasoning in previous replies).

Thank you.
