John, Paul, George, and Stuart were four school friends. After one particularly hard day's night, they went to see a movie together. After the first time, they began going regularly but on different schedules. (They even went on weekends.) John went every fourth day, Paul went every fifth day, George went every seventh day, and Stuart went every ninth day. How many days was it before all four went to the movies together again?

Since John goes every fourth day, then the days John goes will be multiples of 4.

Since Paul goes every fifth day, the days Paul goes will be multiplies of 5.

Consider the other two guys the same way.

Looks like the next time they will all go to the movies together will be in a number of days that is the least common multiple of 4, 5, 7 and 9.
