Ten randomly selected PSYC123 students are entered into the All Comers StatisticsOlympiad. The standardised test used for this competition has a mean of 360 and a standarddeviation of 60 for the general population. If the UoW students achieve a mean score of 400,can we conclude that the population of Psyc123 students is significantly different from thegeneral population? Choose an alpha level, state your null and alternative hypotheses, and
carry out the steps needed to test your null hypothesis and justify your conclusion.

i know its abit confusing if anyone has anyidea please let me know

You should have a scripted procedure listed in your text book. It should look rather like this partial listing:

----- Select a Null Hypotheses (usually the Status Quo - The population is NOT different)
----- Write the alternate hypothesis.
----- Select a significance level (usually given in the problem statement)
----- Determine the critical value
----- Calculate the test statistic.
----- Make a decision

Sadly, when properly performing this function, it is generally deemed rather unsatisfactory because it doesn't feel like you are doing anything. Try to get over that. This is the pinnacle of the mountain. Don't regret it because it isn't the climbing part.
