When analysing say athletics data, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot putt all have the same unit (metres) . As the units are the same, are these "scaled", even though they would appear on different parts on a continuous length scale, or does "scaling" imply processing like standardisation of the data from the different events before they can be subjected to multivariate analysis?
