Hi i am having a hard time with my home work.

1/4 inch = 2 feet i have to convert something that is 5 1/2 feet and show work . i dont get it

Think about ratio and proportion. Are you expanding or shrinking proportionally? If yes - then by what proportion?

Please show us what you have tried and exactly where you are stuck.

It will be very helpful if you would show us the actual problem you are working on. Some important features of the problem have been lost in translation, since of course it is not true that 1/4 inch is equal to 2 feet! I'm guessing this is about a map (or a similar scale drawing); but I'm not sure whether the "something" is on the map or in the real world. Seeing the actual problem will also make it easier for us to explain details in a way you can see.

Also, as usual, we want to see what work you can do, so we can start at the right level, and not try to teach you things you already know (or assume you know things you don't).
 
If 2 feet corresponds to 1/4 inch then what will 1 ft correspond to? Then what will 5 1/2 feet correspond to?

Also, please do not write that 1/4 inch = 2 feet when we both know that 24 inches = 2 feet.
