roots of a quad. equation?!

Hi, I was given homework in alg2 class. But I don't understand this one concept...

Solve each equation. Write your answers in the form a + bi I don't know how to put it into that form.

For example: how do you put x^2 + 10x +34 = 0 in that a + bi form.
