I've heard it said that if the first d moments of two distributions are equal then the total variation of their difference can be bounded by a simple function in d. Can anyone direct me to a good resource giving this bound?
Have you observed the Moment Generating Function? It could be clear enough from there. Something about the first derivative that doesn't match comes to mind.
