A population of wolves in a county is represetned by the equation p(t)=80(0.98)^t. where t is the number of yers since 1998. predict the number of wolves in the population in the year 2008.

i actually like thses type of problems but now im lost since dey didnt tell you by p and t are?

p has no value because it's only a name. In other words, p is the name of the given function. They could have chosen any name, like W (for wolves), if they had wanted to.

W(t) = 80(0.98)^t

The name is not important. The value of the VARIABLE called p(t) is what they want you to calculate.

They did not tell you the value of t because they want you to use your brain.

They've given you all of the information that you need to determine the value of t yourself.

You want to know what t is? I'll tell you.

t is the number of years after 1998.

In other words, if today is 1998, then t = 0.

If today is 1999, then t = 1.

If today is 2000, then t = 2.

If today is 2001, then t = 3.

Okay now? 8-)

oh okay i understand it..i will try it nd find out the answer but i think i know where im heading to doing this problem now thank you so much..i am comming back to you if i dont understand =)
