You say "write down a recurrence relation for an". Are you given "an" or are you supposed to make up one yourself?

I am sorry but we do not solve problems for students on this website. You say that you need help, then tell us what specifically you need help with.

The problem is asking you to come up with a sequence a1,a2,a3,a4,....
Where each of those ai are numbers. Like 3,6,4,8,9,34,7,4,6,77,....

The one special property that your sequence need to have is that to go from one number to the next number you use the same process.
You get to choice the process and the 1st number.

reason for sharing attachment was that the symbols in the questions cant be typed properly
