I am to multiply this fraction. I think I have to simplify first, I am not real sure how to do this yet.

2x^2-x-3/3x^2+7x+4 * 3x^2-11x-20/4x^2-9.

Can someone please help me, I am in great need as I am failing this class.

Re: rational expressions

\(\displaystyle \frac{{{\rm{2x}}^{\rm{2}} - x - 3}}{{3x^2 + 7x + 4}}\frac{{3x^2 - 11x - 20}}{{4x^2 - 9}} = \frac{{\left( {2x - 3} \right)\left( {x + 1} \right)}}{{\left( {3x + 4} \right)\left( {x + 1} \right)}}\frac{{\left( {3x + 4} \right)\left( {x - 5} \right)}}{{\left( {2x - 3} \right)\left( {2x + 3} \right)}}\)

It is just a matter of knowing how to factor.

What you have posted means the following:

. . . . .2x[sup:2b3vdjaw]2[/sup:2b3vdjaw] - x - (3/3x[sup:2b3vdjaw]2[/sup:2b3vdjaw]) + 7x + (4)(3x[sup:2b3vdjaw]2[/sup:2b3vdjaw]) - 11x - (20/4x[sup:2b3vdjaw]2[/sup:2b3vdjaw]) - 9

Was this was you meant? Or did the tutor guess your intention correctly? Or did you mean something else?

Thank you! :D
