Hi everyone. It's been a while since I took any math courses at uni, but I was wondering how the ratio 2:1 would be expressed as a percentage.

If I have 20 apples and my friend has ten oranges what percentage of apples do I have compared to his oranges?

\(\displaystyle \frac{2}{1} \ = \ 2 \ = \\) [sup:3kotu9rh]200%[/sup:3kotu9rh]

No, you can't compare apples to oranges. You have to have the same units to cancel out
to get a number without units.

You could have this:

(20 apples)/(10 apples) = 2 = 200%. or you could have

(20 oranges)/(10 oranges) = 2 = 200%
